*Contact the embassy of the foreign citizen to provide information on the process of transporting the body.

Only state-permitted Forensic Hospitals are allowed to perform embalming.

  • In case of death due to disease or illness, call 103 for the ambulance.
  • In case of death due to external influences or sudden death, call the police at 102.
  • Provide the following documents at the Civil Registry Office:
    1. ID card of the deceased person.
    • If the deceased is a minor, provide their birth certificate and the ID cards of their parents.
    • f the dead are undocumented, provide an archive reference from the embassy.
    1. Hospital report on death (EMM 09 B form):
    • If the person dies at home 
      • due to illness, obtain EMM 09 B form from the District Hospital.

    Due to sudden death or accident, obtain  EMM 09 B form from the State Forensic Hospital.

Funeral Benefit is a monetary benefit of $580 provided by the government to cover expenses for the funeral.

Funeral benefits are eligible if the following conditions apply:

  • A person paid at least 36 months of social insurance and passed away due to an illness or accident.
  • For deaths caused by an industrial accident or occupational disease, funeral benefits are given to the family regardless of nonpayment of social insurance.
  • According to the Social Insurance Law, citizens receive a pension or other specified benefits.
  • To receive funeral benefits, you will need the following materials:
    • Identity card of the person who will receive the funeral benefits.
    • Identity card or Passport of the deceased person.
    • Social insurance record showing at least 36 months of social insurance payment.
    • Pension book of the insured person if they were receiving a pension.
    • Industrial Accident Act documentation (In the case of death due to an industrial accident or occupational disease)
    • Death certificate issued from the Civil Registry Office.

  • The survivor’s pension is a benefit given to disabled family members who rely on an insured person for support. 
  • Suppose the insured person passed away due to an illness or accident, and the deceased had paid social insurance for at least 20 years. In that case, the dependent family members can receive the survivor’s pension to help them financially.
